From4.45 am on Friday, 8th April 2011, a Massacre took place in Camp Ashraf. On one side two divisions of Iraqi government forces, supported by Iranian Guards Qods Force, 140 tanks, armoured vehicles and Humvees plus
2,500 ground troops. On the other 3,400 Ashraf residents, 1,000 of them women, unarmed and defenceless except for the courage that came from knowing the part they had to play in the long history of struggle by Iranian people for freedom as guardians of this bastion of hope and inspiration. As one of them said: ‘as long as Ashraf survives, the path to freedom for Iran is very
much alight’.....
2.Tribute to the Fallen: The Spirit of Ashraf lives on
Each of those who died as a result of the 8th April massacre had a unique and moving story. Indeed, every person in Ashraf has their own story, but at the same time, in a very real sense, they are all the same. By whatever path they came to Ashraf and however they leave it, their life materialises courage, determina
tion, perseverance, and selflessness. All have stood up, in joy and with peace of heart, for what is right, because it is right, not because it is easy.
So let these stories of a few be the tribute to all....
When news and film footage of the attack on Ashraf brought people from their sleep in the early hours of Friday, 8th April in England, late evening on the 7th in Washington, it soon became clear that the intention was to massacre the people of Ashraf, and take over the territory before the International community could react.
